Little Corn Island – Day 5

We went to Rosa’s today for breakfast, the best french toast I have every had, with fresh fruit and coffee for 4 bucks. Can’t be beat. I think it may be our new favorite place!

Today was Carolyn’s first open water dives as a certified diver.  Meghan and I went out with her today and it was great. Looks like she is haivng fun. The second dive Meghan had to stay behind and work on her classroom stuff for her rescue diver certification. (She was not happy to miss a dive)

The wind and waves are still too strong to dive the east side of the island, so we headed out again to the north west section of the island. This was going to be Carolyn’s first dive as a certified diver! We dove at a site called Long Rock. It is a deep dive, 70 feet or so, but lots of neat stuff to see, as damsel fish who took his job protecting the reef very seriously. When you went eye level with the coral head it was protecting it would dash out right in front of your mast. 2 or 3 inches away, I am sure he was saying, go away, this is my reef, leave, get lost. It was very cute.

Our second dive was at a site called My Place. Nice dive, lots to see. We saw a pair of queen angel fish, together and hog fish and a very up front yellow tail snapper. The snapper came right up to me and was trying to eat the orange part of my camera housing, when that did not work he left me and went over to check out Carolyn, got about 2 inches from her mast, looking eye to eye with her.

For dinner we went to back to Brigetts. Meghan and Carolyn had the lobster and I had the shrimp. As per the previous meal, it was great. One funny thing we noticed is that when you order a coke, they send someone out to the store next door to buy it, bring it to the back of the kitchens back door and then it comes out and they serve it at the table. Up early to go diving. Went to Rosa’s for breakfast; I had the French toast. The most amazing French toast I have ever had, made with coconut bread, yum.

  1. Rosa was just starting up, with one table, when I was there. Glad to hear she’s doing well.

  2. Thanks for keeping us posted on your adventure. We so appreciate hearing all the details and can’t wait to hear everything first hand. Saw Cathy tonight, she misses you both. Take care.
